Well what a season it has been, from a very promising start, a mid season lull and a dominate ending it has beenĀ a roller coaster of a year ending in a third Clio cup crown for Paul in the Lumison/ BlueSquare Data sponsored car run by Clio Cup stalwarts Stancombe Vehicle Engineering.
We take a look back with Paul

Well after a closely fought season you came out on top. How would you rate the season as a whole?
Tough, we had so much bad luck through the year but just kept focusing on our goal, and with no podium finishes for four rounds that wasn't easy.
Was it the hardest title you have won?
Defiantly, the other two have been won with races to spare.
When did you find out you had a drive for the season?
I was away traveling through Asia with a couple of friends, with plans of coming home for the start of the season to continue my work driver coaching and with Stancombe Vehicle Engineering. I was having breakfast in Cambodia when I checked my emails to find Matthew and Lumison Bluesquare Data had put a deal together for me to race with Colin Stancombe (I was the last in loop to find out). What a pleasant surprise that was!
Was it hard coming into the first race with no testing?
Not really, it's like riding a bike in that respect. With six full seasons in the Clio Cup I feel I can always jump in and be instantly on the pace.
After some good results in the opening races were you confident that you could win the title?
The season started very well and I thought we would have a great chance of running away with the championship lead until our bad luck started to set in with the first issue being a puncture in one of the Thruxton races.
Did that view change after the disappointing meetings during the mid season?
I was always confident we could take the championship but after leaving Rockingham without the championship lead for the first time in the season, it looked like maybe it was going to slip away.
What was your favourite race of the season?
To be honest, any of the four races we started from the back of the grid were great fun but the best race has got to be the last race at Brands GP. The pressure was on, and with that came pole position, fastest lap, the race win and off course the championship title.
And the low point of the season?
Most defiantly Rockingham qualifying. With a broken heat shield after two laps this caused a small fire and just when we needed a real good qualy, it was back of the grid for both races.
You have said in other interviews that this title means the most to you. Why is this?
I have been around Stancombe Vehicle Engineering for most of my career and to win the championship in one of their cars is great for all involved. Tears from most in the team at Brands so that says it all really.
Ideally if you could choose what you raced next season what would it be?
I'd love to step up to the BTCC, but realistically just feel very lucky every time I'm behind the wheel.
