Snetterton rounds 11 and 12
Round 11
From quickest in pre race testing on the Friday to qualifying 6th was not the plan I had in mind commented Paul after Saturday qualifying. But after a red flag just when Paul had put on new tyres and a spinner in front of him on the second set of new tyres that was where he ended up.
Hoping to make progress in the Race starting from 6th Paul had to take avoiding action of the incident at the hairpin then he was stuck behind Matt Allison's broken car unable to pull back out into traffic which lost him 5 places. He spent the rest of the race fighting back through the pack and at the checkered flag he managed to get up to 6th.
Speaking before the race on Sunday Paul was in buoyant mood and hoping to get his championship lead back by beating one of his title rivals James Dixon.
Round 12
Paul made a slow start to race two only getting properly going after a hit up the back from Luke Wright! Paul was side by side with Colburn going into Hamilton corner but was pushed onto the dust and lost a few places. Paul battled back past Matt Allison and Luke Wright but realised he was too far away from the top three so just held his position till the end and thus regaining the championship lead by 11 pts as Dixon had a DNF.
After the race Paul commented.
"A bit of wheel spin off the line but a whack from the car behind helped me get going.
Colburn ran me off circuit at Hamilton which cost me the chance of passing him and enabled Allison to pass me. After getting passed Allison at Brundle corner I realised the top three were too far ahead so I kept a steady gap to them to assure me of regaining the championship lead and taking an 11 point lead into the penultimate meeting of the season at Rockingham."
