Paul finished 9th in the first, and hopefully annual, SVE Karting event after being taken out by most of the SVE Caterham racers in the final!
Paul started the first heat from near the front and went on to win, in tricky conditions, from SVE mechanic Keith 'lemon' rapley.
In the second heat Paul started from the back and managed to make his way up to 5th despite large amounts of contact between Paul, Lee Wiggins and Steve Day, the latter I think was trying to get Paul back after his little knock while racing Steve's car at Anglesey .
In the final heat Paul shot into the lead and after a few laps was so far ahead he decided to drop back to race in the pack as he was bored out front. This resulted in quite a few drivers making contact with Paul ( or possibly the other way round!) and Paul ending up 9th in the final standings.
Even though Paul finished 9th he was still by far the fastest driver over the evening, setting a fastest lap that was 2 seconds a lap faster than anyone else that harked back to Paul's younger days when he gave Jenson button a run for his money in the British Cadet Karting championship.
Obviously this was a bit of fun for everyone after hard fought seasons in the Clio Cup, Caterham championship and Radical Clubman championship and in typical Stancombe Vehicle Engineering style a good time was had by all.
We were all left wondering whether that was only water in the pink bottle!!
