13 November '02 - Formula Renault UK Championship : Paul will compete in the 2002 Formula Renault Winter Series with Team Firstair. This will see two meetings, each featuring a double header of races, at Donington Park (16/17 November) and Brands Hatch (23/24 November).

The format of the meetings will see Formula Renault qualify on Saturday, with the first race the same day. There will then be a 'Last chance race' on the Sunday, with a Final at the end of the day. Points will be awarded based on overall finishing position for the weekend.
  

Elf Clio Renaultsport UK Cup : Paul successfully claimed the 2002 championship title at the final meeting of the season at Donington Park. He finished third behind Andrew Kirkaldy and Daniel Buxton, taking the fastest lap of the race along the way. It was a frutsrating race for Paul as he had considerably more pace than he was able to use, but bringing the car home safely to take the championship was clearly the priority. In the final standings, Paul was victorious by an impressive 28 points.

Following the race at Donington, he commented: "It has been a really good year. The only time we haven't led is after the accident at Thruxton and straight away we went to the next round and took the lead of the championship back again. As much as you can dominate a Clio championship, we have dominated it!

The team have been superb all the way through the year. The car has been just brilliant. Even when they built the new car after Thruxton, we went straight out on to the track and straight away we were winning races again. Not even the slightest mechanical failure throughout the year. Nothing at all. It just shows what a good job they do."
