Paul tops Snetterton test
Paul was top of the timesheets at a mid-season test at Snetterton last week. As he prepares for the second half of the season, which starts at Croft this weekend (24th/25th July), Paul is currently sitting in second position in the championship, just seven points behind leader, Ed Pead.
With three dropped scores to come in to play at the end of the season, Paul’s position is a strong one, having scored two race wins and five further podium finishes from the opening ten races of the season.
The Snetterton outing offered a good opportunity for the Clio Cup teams and drivers to return to action following the seven-week break since the last race meeting at Thruxton in May.
Paul’s best lap of 1:17.789 seconds saw him go 0.259 seconds faster than Team Griffin Racing’s Matt Allison with privateer runner Mark Davies less than three 100ths further back in third place.
The Croft action starts with qualifying at 11:20am on Saturday, followed by race one at 4:10pm. Race two takes place on Sunday at 3:15pm.
