After qualifying 3rd for both races Paul had high hopes going into the first of the weekends races.
At the start Paul managed to get ahead of Goff and into second place but a miscalculation at the chicane on the 5th lap caused terminal damage so he had to retire to the pits.
After the race Paul commented "we were absolutely flying out there. I got a great start, and as far as I could see, we were the quickest car out there but the incident was completely my own fault. I clipped the tyres on the exit of the chicane on the inside. On the lap before I missed my apex, so this time I thought I had to get it right, but I got it right maybe six to eight inches too far. It’s a real shame as the PER HIRE car has been absolutely great again this weekend and we’ve turned up here with the lovely new paint job, but we were bound to scratch it at some point, so now we’ve done that we will be out for the win tomorrow. Points wise for the championship, we need to go out there and win everything we can.’

In the second race Paul was able to keep position going into the first corner, meaning he was just in front of title rival Goff, which is where he finished at the end of the race.
We started in the order we finished at the end of the day,’ said Rivett. ‘It’s a tough circuit to overtake, especially in the Clio’s but it’s a great circuit to drive. The PER HIRE Stancombe Vehicle Engineering car has been great all weekend as per usual, apart from my mistake yesterday. It would have been nice to put the new paint colours on our car on the top step of the podium, but it wasn’t to be this weekend. Stefan has driven a couple of great races and has done really, really well.
‘I was hoping for fastest lap in that one, ‘ continued Rivett. ‘I knew I wasn’t going to get past [Files] in a hurry so I held back a little bit to see if I could fastest lap and I think I had it, but Adam Bonham took it on the last lap. It’s a shame we didn’t get those last two points.’
The Clio cup takes another break until Snetterton in August so Paul now turns his attention to the P1 Aqua X championship and his next race in Hull this weekend.
